Continuing quality traditions of more than 100 years

The company Sunce Marinkovic d.o.o. was founded in 1929 as a small family workshop for steel joinery, gates and fences. The founder Aleksandar Marinkovic was a well-known craftsman whose gates beautify the city of Kragujevac even today. The company was named after the symbol of the sun on the stone bridge in the centre of Kragujevac that was crafted in Marinkovic‘s workshop.

The craftsmanship traditions and the family values were passed through the generations over the past (almost) 100 years. Today the company supplies a wide range of windows, doors, terraces, railings, etc. and the family business and employs over 100 people, including 20 highly qualified managers and over 80 competent craftsmen.

The company already exports to some European markets.  To increase its product quality in its home market but also to expand its export business and satisfy the requirements of its new and future European clients, the company upgraded some of its machines.

Sunce invested in multi-operating machining centres that optimizes the use of profiles and consequently reduces the profile waste. In addition, environmental compliance is achieved through improvements in air emission and waste management. The new multi-operating machine also improves the safety of operators, due to its higher level of automation. The PVC profiles, in door and window frames, have a better quality of surfaces, especially regarding the frame corners and after drilling.

After the successful project verification, Sunce Marinkovic received a 15% grant cash-back, funded by the European Union. The company now meets a wide range of EU Directives on occupational health and safety and machines including:

    • Directive 2009/104/EC related to use of Work Equipment by Workers
    • Directive 2003/10/EC – Minimum health and safety requirements regarding the exposure of workers to the risks arising from physical agents (noise)
    • Directive 2008/98/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19 November 2008 on waste and repealing certain Directives (Text with EEA relevance) (waste)
    • -Directive 2010/75/EU on Industrial Emissions (integrated pollution prevention and control), recast, Text with EEA relevance
