Krin KG d.o.o. was established in 2003 as a processer of natural stone products. With 77 employees, the company is active in the cutting and finishing of marble and granite products for customers in Kosovo as well as in international markets. Finished products include high quality cladding and decorative elements for buildings as well as stand alone exhibits. With its works produced for buildings, the company cooperates very closely with the construction sector. In addition to its production facilities, the company has 4 quarries under concession, securing a stable supply of granite, marble and travertine. The quarries are located far from the production facility.

To increase its independence from the grid, the company invested in the installation of a Photovoltaic power plant (1 MW) mounted on the roof of one of the production buildings. To increase the production efficiency and quality, the company also invested in a new shot-blasting machine for anti-skid treatment of granite and marble slabs and in the reconstruction of the existing transformer station.

In addition to meeting several EU directives, the investments reduced the harmful impact in the environment, improved health and safety of workers by reducing the PM 10 particles to a minimum, eliminating workers’ exposure.

Krin KG d.o.o. received free technical assistance to optimize its investment project and a 15% cash-back grant after the successful project verification, funded by the European Union.

With the investment, the company now meets a wide variety of European standards, including:

    • Directive 2009/28/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 23 April 2009 on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources
    • Directive 2006/42/CE of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 May 2006 on machinery
    • Directive 2014/30/UE of European Parliament and of the Council of 26 February 2014 on the harmonization of the laws of Member States relating to electromagnetic compatibility
    • Directive 2014/35/UE of European Parliament and of the Council of 26 February 2014 on the harmonization of the laws of Member States relating to making available on the market of electrical equipment designed for use within certain limits voltage
    • Directive (EU) 2017/2398 amending Directive 2004/37/EC on the protection of workers from the risks related to exposure to carcinogens or mutagens at work
