 ASP PAK dooel was established in 2000 in Ohrid. After 19 years of successful operation, the company has developed into one of the key producers and suppliers of plastic packaging materials for fruits and vegetables and protection nets. Almost 95% of the company’s sales are export, serving 12 EU countries, regional neighbours as well as Israel. The production processes comprise the complete cycle from procurement of the basic raw material – HDPE granulate – to semi-finished and finished products.

To improve product quality, environmentally sound raw material management, reduce waste and energy consumption, the company invested in a new system and equipment for management of raw materials within the production process.  Specifically the processes of transportation were targeted, such as warehousing, dosing HDPE (high density polyethylene) and HDPE mixing.

The investment included raw material storage silos and internal transport equipment, dosing machines, control and monitoring software and a new net making machine.

ASP Pak dooel received free technical assistance to optimize its investment project and a 15% cash-back grant after the successful project verification, funded by the European Union.

With the investment, the company now meets a wide variety of European standards, including:

    • Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 on materials and articles intended to come into contact with food and repealing Directives 80/590/EEC;
    • EU Regulation 2023/2006 on good manufacturing practice for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food;
    • Commission Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 of 14 January 2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food;
    • Directive 2006/42/EC on machinery;
    • Directive 2008/98/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 19 November 2008 on waste and repealing certain Directives.
