agricultural products producer believes in Renewable energy

Located in Novi Beograd, AGROSAVA doo started its story in 1990 as a manufacturer of pesticides and other agrochemical products for the protection of plants. They originally started with two employees, and today they employ 228 people, including highly educated experts of various profiles who, with their knowledge, experience and advice, represent a safe support for every agricultural producer. Today the company’s product range includes pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers and seeds, which are produced in the company’s factory in Simanovci, a small village in Pecinci municipality, 25 km west from Belgrade. Within the factory, they also have a seed processing center with a dryer and seed storage with a capacity of 5,000 pallets, a plant to produce plastic packaging, a printing press, a laboratory, as well as a distribution center for pesticides with an area of 1.6 ha.

In January 2022 AGROSAVA doo purchased and installed 539.46 kWp solar plant (SPP AGROSAVA 1), installed on the roof of the distribution center building M10, connecting to the Substation with capacity of 630 kVA.That was the first phase of the project. The sub-project was financed by UniCredti Leasing doo, through SME-CSP credit line. Pleased with the results, the company decided to safeguard the electricity supply of the increasing electricity consumption caused by production increases by installing another 669.12 kWp solar power plant on the same production site but connected to another power substation with the total capacity of 2 x 1160 kVA. While the renewable energy installation was mainly designed to cover the company’s own energy needs, AGROSAVA already started the permit process that will enable the company to sell surplus energy produced to the grid.

The first investment was financed through a leasing agreement of €264,000 with UniCredit Leasing and the second investment of €453,992 was partially financed through a EUR 362,440 loan from Banca Intesa, both financed under the SME Competitiveness Programme in Serbia. After the successful verification, the company received a 15% cashback grant on the combined loan/leasing amount, financed by the European Union. The project helps the company to meet a variety of directives, including the important directives with green economy relevance:

  • Directive 2018/2001 EU on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources (recast)
  • Directive 2012/27/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 October 2012 on energy efficiency, amending Directives 2009/125/EC and 2010/30/EU and repealing Directives 2004/8/EC and 2006/32/EC
