“Metal Export” Sh.P.K. grew from a small metals workshop, run by two people, into a 30-employee operation in just 6 years. The skills range in the company includes machine operators, engineers, construction specialists and architects. Located in a semi-rural area in Kosovo, the company produces metal structures for the construction industry, metal sheet profiles, metal tubes, rain gutters and fire exits.

Known as a supplier of quality products, Metal Export sells its goods in Kosovo but also exports to neighboring countries and the EU.

With the help of the Kosovo SME Competitiveness Support Programme, the company purchased and installed A new Roller Conveyor Shot Blasting Machine.

With this investment, the company increases its production capacity to serve its expanding markets, sales, improves the end product quality and, with a subsequent increase in profits it also improved its competitive positioning. All these positive effects also had improved the company’s export activities.

The new equipment runs more efficiently, consuming less energy per unit of production than the old one and, due to the automated controls, results in fewer errors and less waste.

The automation features of the new machine, together with the appropriate training provided by the supplier, will significantly reduce the risk of injuries for the workers and provides full protection for the operators of the machine. The examination of the working environment and installations, after the new equipment was installed, resulted in an overall improvement of occupational health and safety for the workers.

With the investment, the company now meets a wide variety of European standards, including:

• Directive 2006/42/EC on machinery, and amending Directive 95/16/EC (recast).
• Directive 2014/35/EU relating to the making available on the market of electrical equipment designed for use within certain voltage limits.
