New machinery offers multiple benefits to carpentry company

Dardania Model is a company with a long tradition in carpentry manufacturing. Ties to the carpentry business date way back to the 1960s when their first family-owned carpentry business opened in Ferizaj. The company has continuously evolved ever since.

By focusing on high quality products, Dardania Model has managed to become a well-known brand in the production and sales of PVC doors and windows, wooden furniture for kitchens and bedrooms. Given its long business tradition and high performance, the company has already established itself in EU markets and nowadays 40% of its sales are exports to EU countries. This growth and increased demand for its products has led the company to further expand and modernize its production facilities with a new PVC production and raw materials colouring line. With the help of the Kosovo SME Competitiveness Support Programme, the company purchased a fully automated sawing machine, a PVC Automatic Water Slot Machine, a PVC Welding and Corner Cleaning Line, a Sash Assembly Table, an Automatic Spraying Machine and a Brush Sanding Machine.

Dardania Model received free technical assistance to optimize its investment project and a 15% cash-back grant after the successful project verification, funded by the European Union.  This investment will result in many different benefits. First, this investment will have a positive effect in the environment by introducing a FSC evidence logbook to show the traceability on used wooden materials. Also, as the new machines ate fully automated, the efficiency of the process and worker comfort are increased, ensuring a safer and easier performance of duties.

The new investment complies with the EU’s occupational health and safety standards, and it improves product quality. The higher level of automation also helps standardize and simplify processed wood design, wood shaping and further processing.

With the investment, the company now meets a wide variety of European standards, including:

  • Regulation (EU) No 995/2010 laying down the obligations of operators who place timber and timber products on the market.
  • Directive 2006/42/EC on machinery, and amending Directive 95/16/EC (recast);
  • Directive 1999/92/EC on minimum requirements for improving the safety and health protection of workers potentially at risk from explosive atmospheres;
  • Directive 2010/75/EU on Industrial Emissions (integrated pollution prevention and control), recast, Text with EEA relevance)
