REDUCING AIR POLLUTION THROUGH BETTER QUALITY CONCRETE

Toni Compani SHPK is a well-positioned company in the construction sector in Kosovo. The company deals with the production, transport and pumping of ready-made concrete for construction purposes. The company philosophy is based on its dedication to always offering top quality products as well as continuous quality improvements. This is achieved though regular investments n modern technology.

With the help of the Kosovo SME Competitiveness Support Programme, the company invested in the purchase of a new concrete pumping machine, which offers stability control of the concrete and improves occupations health and safety conditions of the workers. The new pump also increases work productivity, as it can lift the concrete up to a 58 m height, which is higher than the other pumps currently used by the company for the concrete delivery possesses. Moreover, the new pump is more fuel efficient compared to the older ones, resulting in financial benefits from energy savings and also reduces the CO2 output of the company.

Toni Compani SHPK received free technical assistance to optimize its investment project and a 15% cash-back grant after the successful project verification, funded by the European Union.  With the investment, the company now meets a wide variety of European standards, including:

    • Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/2400 implementing Regulation (EC) No 595/2009 as regards the determination of the CO2 emissions and fuel consumption of heavy-duty vehicles
    • Commission Regulation (EU) No 136/2014 amending Directive 2007/46/EC, Commission Regulation (EC) No 692/2008 as regards emissions from light passenger and commercial vehicles
    • Commission Regulation (EU) No 64/2012 amending Regulation (EU) No 582/2011 implementing and amending Regulation (EC) No 595/2009 with respect to emissions from heavy duty vehicles (Euro VI)
    • Directive 2006/42/EC on machinery
    • Directive 2007/46/EC establishing a framework for the approval of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles (Framework Directive) and Regulation (EC) No 661/2009 concerning type-approval requirements for the general safety of motor vehicles, their trailers and systems, components and separate technical units intended therefor
    • Directive 2000/53/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 September 2000 on end-of life vehicles
